TEENAGE HELPLINE APPOINTS ITS FIRST GENERAL COUNSEL AND COMPANY SECRETARY

TEENAGE HELPLINE is pleased to announce that Annelie Carver has been appointed as the Teenage Helpline’s first General Counsel and Company Secretary. Annelie will bring a wealth of Legal and Company Secretarial experience, providing invaluable support and guidance to the Board and Charity. Annelie’s position appointment is effective the 28th May 2022.

Josh Tower’s CEO and Chairperson comments “I set up Teenage Helpline ten years ago at the age of 14 after experiencing my own difficulties with my mental health and coming to terms with my sexuality. Whilst there was plenty of support available, I found that there was something important missing. I needed somebody my own age to talk to, and all that was available meant talking to an adult or a professional. That is why I started Teenage Helpline’s peer-to-peer mentoring support services.  In the last year, Teenage Helpline have received support from over 100 volunteers. I remain to be astounded by the quality of support that our volunteers provide, both to the young people that require our services and to advancing the charity by increasing the number of people we support. Our volunteer peer mentors have provided high-quality support to young people, whether that is talking as a friendly face about relationships, friendships, family, or schoolwork, or on more serious concerns around mental health and even suicidal feelings. We are really pleased to appoint Annelie as our General Counsel and Company Secretary to provide invaluable support to the Charity and Board

Annelie Carver comments: “I am really excited to be appointed as General Counsel and Company Secretary for the Teenage Helpline. This is an exciting and growing Charity which provides a unique service by providing peer-to-peer support and mentoring for young people. I have worked as a lawyer for over twenty years but I also run a yoga and wellness business. Providing support to people struggling with mental health and other issues is something that I am very passionate about. I can’t wait to get involved in the Charity’s projects and provide legal support and assistance to the Board and the Charity”.

Teenage Helpline is always looking for volunteers as demand for its services grows exponentially, its team will need to continuously grow to meet the demand. Teenage Helpline expects the number of volunteers supporting Teenage Helpline to almost double throughout the next year.
